Why silk for sleep
A pillowcase is the silk purchase with the most contact hours. You are against it for roughly a third of every day, and it is the one silk item where the difference is measurable in how your hair and skin look in the morning rather than in how the fabric feels in your hand.
Two things drive that. Silk has a low coefficient of friction, so hair slides instead of catching at the follicle. Silk also absorbs and releases moisture rather than holding it on the surface, so the pillow stays drier than polyester or cotton through the night. We make no claim about wrinkles, acne or hair regrowth - those are medical questions, and anyone selling you a pillowcase for them is overreaching.
What 22 momme feels like
22 momme is a heavy, substantial silk - the weight most often used for bedding, and noticeably denser than a 19 momme scarf or 16 momme shirt weight. It has body, so it does not slide off the pillow insert, and it feels cool on first contact then warms to skin temperature.
The reason weight matters here is wear. A pillowcase is washed far more often than a scarf, and light silk thins at the fold lines within a year or two of regular washing. 22 momme tolerates repeated gentle washing much better. If you want the full explanation of the unit, see what momme means.
Our silk carries a 6A mill specification. That is an internal mill grading of fibre length and evenness, not a third-party certificate, and we do not present it as one. Sizes and fit
Measure the pillow insert, not the existing case - cases are usually cut 2-4 cm larger than the insert, so a "standard" case can be either size.
- Standard 48 x 74 cm - the common North American standard pillow.
- Standard small 51 x 66 cm - the common UK and European standard.
- Queen 51 x 76 cm - a longer standard pillow, common in North America.
- King 51 x 91 cm - for a full-width king pillow.
Both closures are available. The zipper fully encloses the insert, which is what you want if the pillow is on a made bed or if you are avoiding dust reaching the insert. The envelope tucks the insert inside a flap, with no metal hardware to catch on hair or bedding - usually the better choice if you move around in the night. Care
Machine wash is possible on a delicate cold cycle with a pH-neutral detergent, in a mesh bag, with no other laundry in the drum. Hand washing stays gentler. Never bleach, never use fabric softener, and never tumble dry - the friction and heat are what age silk fastest. Air dry flat or over a rail, out of direct sun, then iron on the reverse while slightly damp. Full steps: silk care guide.

Made in Hangzhou and shipped by air. Free air shipping on orders over $50; $10 flat below that. Usually 10-15 business days to the US and Europe. Import duty is your country's and is not included at checkout. Because this is a sleep item, unused cases can be returned within 7 days of delivery in unopened packaging; once a case has been used or unsealed it cannot be returned for hygiene reasons.
